Make sure you get a good translator. I was told that a certain phrase in Chinese meant "Hello". This person said that I should go up to the next Chinese person and say it. I felt like something was fishy. I asked a friend what that particular phrase meant and she stated that I shouldn`t say it because it was offensive. She said that it translated into "Go kiss a horses`s a*%"
Goofy translation stories are my favorite. Coca-Cola in one dialect translates as "bite the wax tadpole." In one Pepsi Lifts Your Spirits campaign, it was translated to "Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the dead."
