Hey Justin. Great article. I have a question about 'buy a local URL'. If you already have an established URL should you create a second 'local URL' website with different content, or should you just redired the URL domain name to your original URL?

Hi, Emma!  The answer to your question depends on what you are willing to offer your potential local customers. A URL with the local cite added to it and a redirect would only be a blip on Google's radar for anyone searching for the city. There wouldn't be any content to index. Also, there is a debate on whether or not Google's penalizes your page ranking because of it. I would say, use it as a landing page specifically for local customers with a link back to the main site somewhere on it. Maybe create some blog content relating to local events, offer coupons for in-store use, announce in-store events and have some fun with it. You'll be surprised at how many customers will enjoy the personal, local flavor and become fans. It's also advantageous to post your business in online local business directories, if you haven't already. Enjoy!
