Hi, I'm new to business, if you can even call it that. I have an idea for a video game, except a lot of the concepts aren't from me, but from a series or franchise of an already existing game. What I'm doing is adding things, making a story, and re-inventing the series and I can do that and not ruin the other games because of how the games themselves are "set up". I'm coming closer to finishing it, so I'm getting a little worried how I can give them credit for what they did, and I can get credit for my ideas. I've spent some time on this and it's something I would really like to see come together, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no harm if you contact the owners of the video game where you adapted your idea. You don't want legal dispute.

You could ask for a legal advice from experts on what is the best thing to do. Good luck on your start up business.
