Host Gator is very expensive to sign up for a domain compared to others. Isn`t it better to go with a host that offers free domains or a less expensive one?
I registered with Yahoo. It cost about $13.oo per year including the "keep it private" feature. I definitely recommend the "keep it private" feature.
Free services generally entail an obligation to the hosting company. They may give away free domain names in exchange for you running advertising on your site.nevadascul2007-9-24 17:26:0
Keeping it private means that you do not want your information shared with the rest of the world. It is just a security preference.
I register my domains with my host for 10.00 a year.
I second the GoDaddy vote. I have used them to register many domains, host email, and transfer domains and they are inexpensive, with good value and customer service.
I currently use GoDaddy for all my domain registrations and have for years. They have good prices and I have never had any trouble with them.I like to keep my domain name registrations separate from my hosting companies. Let`s call this not putting all your eggs in one basket. That way if my web host service deteriorates I can easily switch hosts by changing some settings with the domain name registrar.Private vs. Public registration will depend on your tolerance for unsolicited spam, mail, and phone calls. Your name, address, email, fax and phone numbers will be publicly accessible for your domain unless you get private registration. For example, this is what StartupNation`s domain name record looks like:http://whois.domaintools.com/startupnation.com
I LOVE GoDaddy. They are reputable and inexpensive. PLUS if you have to call them with a problem, they answer the call and help you through it. No offense to anybody here that might be from a country many support companies use to outsource to, but the operators are American and have great personalities, not just question answerers. That is a plus in my book! I register all my domains and host with them as well. That puts everything in one easy-to-manage place.
their domains are ok but I have had problems with their hosting. They also sell packages individually instead of all included. Godaddy takes a while to configure databases as well. Since this I dont use their domains if there more than namecheap.
what I mean is you dont get a shared ssl and so on. I use lunarpages. I have a few domains thru godaddy but after switching to name cheap I got to say their the best.

For domains...GoDaddy is good.
For hosting... not so good.
Yes Domminos, I am totally agree with your thoughts that GoDaddy & Hostgator are very much expensive for small business persons. I recommend http://www.goforhosting.com to take domain for your website. Please provide me your feedback about this website.
