I also use google webmaster tools, I find it very helpful. Sometimes I go with yahoo site explorer or back link watch. When you are back linking make sure that you get back links from all kinds of page ranks, don't only focus on high page rank sites, it won't look natural to google. Try and use a variety of different methods to do your back linking.

In my opinion Google counts only those links which have a limited outbound links, and high quality content related to subject. If you want that Google count your links as a back-links then just try to cover links from Google counted competitors back-links as per your related keyword.

Because there is no value of no follow links in Google search engine. Google only like do follow or quality back links.

As per my knowledge Google only consider the quality links through which Google has passed PR juice to that particular link.

Google really only cares about PR4 through 10 backlinks, and all backlinks count only if their dofollow, if they are no follow they are only good for link popularity and after the panda update link popularity isn't very popular anymore LOL.

The reason why google does not see your back links is because they have not been indexed yet. What that means is, google has not found your back links on the internet. This is a very common problem when it comes to backlink building, because people try to build heaps of links, yet google never finds them!.

Google doesn't revels the important information of any website. Backlinks is necessary to hide. No website owner would want anyone to get access to his backlinks and Google understands it better. Therefore, it provides you data in Webmaster tool and not through Google search.

There are quite a few ways to get your back links indexed, and it all depends on where you are posting your backlinks in the first place. My suggestion is to get backlinks put on sites with high traffic and are getting indexed frequently.

I think google only shows dofollow links so it does not show all back links but yahoo also consider nofollow so it shows more back links than google.

We keep on doing linkbuilding activities like bookmaks, directories submission, article submission which gives us backlinks but when Google considers only do follow links and quality backlinks. Hence it show less backlinks compare to yahoo.
