Question about cpannel

Is it possible to host a website without c-panel or any other control panel software?

TL;DR;
Yes but it's often a waste of time.
Long answer:
If you're just doing an HTML website, then just use something free like Netlify or Amazon S3.
If you have a WordPress website, you can spin up a Virtual Private Server with AWS or DigitalOcean and install Apache, PHP, MySQL and do everything through the command line.
I personally have all the skills to do all that stuff. And I've done so in the past. But more often than not, it's a waste of time. So most of the time, I use CPanel. Unless I'm hosting a web application, then I use Heroku.
