Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone here has looked into/worked on flipping websites?

The idea is you buy a domain name and either re-sell it or build a website on it first then re-sell for higher value.

What do you think? how was your experience?

This is a tough market to work in this age, years ago it was pretty profitable. Maybe look into getting the non .com domains of sites and try to get them to buy it for a slight profit, but at that point you are kinda extorting them with the idea that if they don't buy it you or someone you sell the site to will draw business away from them.

Creating profitable websites and then selling them is in the same mindset of creating profitable businesses and then selling them. Really, there isn't a difference as there has to be a business behind a successful business.

Just my thoughts on it. If you give it a go, I'd be interested to see how you do and what angles you went after.

When I think of website flipping I think of buying already established sites on EmpireFlippers or Flippa.com, improving the sites in order to increase income and then selling them for a higher income, but you need to be able to wade through the trash on Flippa or have some cash on hand for EF, and you need to know what you bring to each website and how you can improve it in a way that the creators couldn't do.

Usually people who are successful with flipping websites are very good at a certain skill whether it's SEO, CRO, or copywriting.

I think it's something that can be quite profitable and I hope to get into it eventually, but right now I'm just building up my owns sites with plans of selling one of them once I can get about $50,000 for it.
