How do you know if your marketing efforts are being effective? Just watch for more sales?

What are you selling? What type of marketing are you doing? What is the goal of your marketing? more calls, more clicks, more emails collected?
I dont think one can just ask whether marketing overall is effective. There are many stages to it. I would first build up my sales funnel: from finding leads (clicks/bounce rates etc), to a first engagement (email signup etc) to a final sale. Each step requires different marketing tools. That way you can monitor each marketing effort separately and see where the funnel breaks and fix it.
We measure our marketing efforts using key performance indicators (KPIs), analytics tools, customer feedback, and ROI analysis to ensure effective strategies and continuous improvement.
