Thoughts on a new product idea: less than 3 minute audio summaries based on articles/news.

I have a feedback request - we created a content discovery application but our users still feel like there’s not enough time to finish/read what they want to read.

To fix this issue, we’re conceptualizing a new additive (or product if that’s what it turns into): less than 3m audio summations covering articles/pods/videos/etc.

It’s 100% user-generated, think TikTok but for audio and add an educational/news element.

The product/website questions we’re trying to answer: is this helpful? Is this sustainable? Would people feel comfortable recording their own summaries? Would people listen to based on people or topic or headline? What can this turn into?

We are hosting a couple of micro-pods on podcast players under "Listory Listen." Feel free to give it a listen if you want or just comment with some questions/feedback. Thank you all in advance!

    Hi rreich,

I believe this is not a new idea, they are many sellers out there, such as Blinkist, StoryShots, MentorBox and others.

Whether your business is sustainable or not, it depends on your cost.

If you can do all the works by yourself, video recording and editing, then you should be able to survive.

Costs that probably unavoidable are video hosting cost, licensing fee (if any), and marketing cost.
