Free Business Ideas

Full credit to Craig for making me think of this post. Many of us have random business ideas that sound neat but we may not want to pursue for one reason or another (i.e. not our passion etc.).

Here`s mine. Feel free to use and share your "unwanted business ideas.

1. Personal Grill Trainer - Outdoor grilling for me is one of those things that I love to see done well but creates stress for me when I`m doing it for others. Do I have the heat right? Will this taste good? What if I burn the burgers?

Solution? - 3- 1 hour sessions with my own Grill coach. He/she e-mails me the ingredients to buy and comes over to teach me exactly how to grill up fantastic burgers, steaks, and signature recipies on my own grill.  He gets paid $50 or so for his time and I`m ready for my next big cookout.  Would be a cool gift from a spouse.

Again, feel free to share ideas.

I`m all for a topical section of "parked" or "free" business ideas. Seems like most entrepreneurs are just idea generators and it seems a shame that many ideas go by the wayside.

    Here`s another:

My son is 4 years old so we`re constantly on the children`s party circuit.  Problem is that the ideas are stale - inflatable bounce parties , clown, magician, petting zoos, or "gulp" girl`s princess parties.  Boys are really left out and based on what I see parent`s spend on kid`s parties this is a very lucrative market.

Idea?  Seargant Sam parties (or come up with another name).  Military seargant shows up in a camouflage humvee in full uniform with plastic helmets, military trinkets for the kids.  He sets up a fun obstacle course for the kids, puts them through the paces to become real soldiers and then leads them on a fun "adventure" mission.  Kids get medals at the end and it`s all non-violent of course (i.e no guns).  My son and his friends would go bananas over a concept like this.

This could be a great opportunity for a veteran!

One idea I had awhile ago and I thought it could work...
I saw a store in Japan once that was targeted at females ages 30-40.. selling products and food they would use. However, the store had so many features and things going on inside, people would come in flocks just to be there.
I thought, wouldn`t it be great if we took the Barnes and Noble model to a grocery store? A classy place with things to do. There are many women who spend time in grocery stores when they don`t want to. They see the same faces during the day. They`re mothers and wives. What if we had a supermarket set up with a coffee shop, place to relax for awhile, a place to test recipes for a small price, a place for the kids to play... ya know..
Going to the market suddenly wouldn`t be so rough.
In the end, I wouldn`t really endeavor to start a company like this, as I don`t have the expertise with that market. But it would surely be cool.

Good point. Interesting concept though and I`ve seen similar combinations with laundromats.  In Austin we have a laundromat that also has a gym under the same roof so you get to work out while you do laundry. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

I think the grocery store idea would have to be specialize in high end/healthy foods and cater to liesure interests - on site salon/spa, wine bar, etc.  Perhaps a personal shopper option could be interesting as well.  You simply give him/her your list of items and run off to the spa for an hour or so.  At the end of your massage etc. your grocery items are waiting for you.  You pay for everything with a nice tip for the personal shopper and you`re on your way refreshed and with one less thing to do.

    Could be fun!

    WoW...

There are few great ideas coming up here. Craig, I support you for creating a new thread where we all can share our business ideas which goes to recycle bin very often.

Ya, the children parties are stale and out of date. Something like involving defense and making feel between the children about soldier’s life can get some excitements.

I think there are a number of opportunities here specially in the home improvement/lifestyle areas. Just look at how popular the "do it with help" style programs are on HGTV.

I could see other trainers such as "Gardening Trainer", "Chef Trainer", "Home Improvement Trainer", "Parenting Trainer", and others.  Key is helping people get a sense of accomplishment for mastering something they couldn`t do before.

    Craig:
At first I didn`t like your idea, sounded too much like an easy out for the overextended parents who don`t  pay enough attention to their children, but then I saw the parlay into a national franchise..nice, an entrepreneur in the making.

Here is my idea...since I am a recruiter I see a lot of resumes from recent college grads applying for admin positions. With the cost of a college education where it is, these grads should be thinking about different career choices. Although I am in the engineering field, I know what hiring managers are looking for and therefore I can put this in a nice package. I am now trying to determine do I market to the parent/child while the student is in high school or freshman year college. Do I market to the high school and college? Some of my thoughts and questions.

I just want to add some ideas that will be highly relevant in the post-pandemic world: delivery robots, employee exchange apps, indoor cleaning monitoring systems, mobile consumer services, etc. The business world is adapting but it needs time.

Instead of focus on 1 specific niche i would suggest you to buy and sell different businesses along with you profit. There are many sites where you can buy and sell a business at best rates.

@David Wood could you please share the site?

@rubyroidlabs about the mobile consumer service, so far we only have salon/barber in Indonesia after the pandemic. What do you have in mind please?

    @Rudy

Thanks for your interest! Under mobile consumer services I mean that in some places, people are not allowed to move a certain distance during the lockdown. Various businesses are now willing to come to your home to provide their service; if you still want to get your hair cut by a professional, there are now mobile hairdresser vans servicing some neighbourhoods.

For example, Rony Yagudaev, the owner of Uptown Barbershop in Phoenix, plans to switch to a house-call operation, whereby his team will come to a client and set up in their backyard.

“I want to find a solution for my guys and I think going mobile, where we come to you, would really help,” he explains.

Meanwhile in the UK, Stephen Richardson went mobile over two months ago after leaving his job at a traditional local barbershop due to the dramatic business slowdown.

Brick-and-mortar salons and shops will not become busy again until the social distancing order is lifted. This means that consumer services on wheels are here to stay, which propels the need for apps that can help businesses and clients connect, schedule appointments, keep in touch and more. It is interesting to note that the idea of “Uber for haircuts” has circulated for years now. The time has come to accelerate the implementation of such app ideas.
