Blog vs Blogger

We just opened up our store - online specialty foods, and are still getting the interactive/educational part up (reviews, recipes, articles, etc). We are going to start a blog asap, but we`re not sure if it is better to use Blogger.com, or to use an app like Wordpress on our own domain - such as domain.com/blog.
Is there an advantage as far as SEO goes, or exposure for being on the Blogger network?
We`re open to either one, so the exposure is the main deciding factor.

Thank you for all of your comments! You really brought up some great points that we had not thought of. We`re going to go with Wordpress, and incorporate it in to the site. Whooooo! I`m pumped. Lol...

If you decide to use wordpress (which I personally use), then you may want to spend that extra $10/year to get a subdomain for your domain.. for example: blog.yourdomain.com. It may not help that much for SEO purposes, but it does look very professional to the end-user.

All Blogger content was stored in Google servers that make the blogs are quite reliable, unlikely to be hacked to get down.
