Does the Supreme Court do anything besides decide cases?

The Supreme Court exists to hear cases arising out of federal law, treaties, cases involving foreign parties, cases between states and constitutional issues.

The Supreme Court Justices are also individually responsible for overseeing the various federal circuit courts throughout the US.

Outside of that Justices are routinely called to testify at congressional hearings.  While this is generally used by politicians to further an agenda some exchanges do help shed light on a justices judicial philosophy.

For the most part, I agree with you in your wording.

Since the circumstances of cases are always different, the decisions in each case must be individual, and therefore must be somewhat different from each other. It means that the court’s activity will differ to some extent.
