Hello. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of the type of marketing
costs associated with launching a consumer electronics product in a new
or nascent category? Example: Tivo, Handspring Treo or Apple TV.What is ballpark year 1 and 2 marketing budget for launching a product like this? What is the ballpark customer acquisition cost or marketing cost per unit sold?Typical year 1, 2 and 3 volumes?

Thanks for your response. If it helps, here are a few details about our
product: It is an internet communications device. We are targeting
consumers in the US for $299.   I realize there are many ways this can be
done. For now, I am looking for some benchmarks for new consumer
electronics products. Since Tivo and Treo have been out there for some
time, perhaps someone knows what it took to launch them and the type of
volumes that were generated in the first 3 years.
