I was recently told by one of the large hosting providers in the country that the longer your site has been around the higher the point ranking.
Thoughts?

    Hi,
The longer your domain name is available to be indexed it can help your site`s standing. So, it is a good idea once you buy a domain name to get at least a temporary site up an running.
This does not guarantee that older sites always beat newer sites in search engine results. Many other factors affect search engine results.

I was recently told by one of the large hosting providers in the country that the longer your site has been around the higher the point ranking.Certainly the converse is true; the less time a site has been around, the less likely it is to be featured by search engines.  This is particularly true for Google; search for "Google Sandbox" to read more this.  But the good news is, like a fine wine, your ranking will get better over time.  Good luck,Scott
