Blogs are a good way to increase your traffic but videos will out perform blogs ten to one if done right. They will also help you to brand yourself and build trust.
People like to view videos more than they like to read. Places like MySpace and YouTube have become the place to place you videos, of course you need to do what is known as indirect advertising in these place to keep from being thrown out.
It also help to add video to your website again, people are more likely to stay and watch a video before they stay and read your site. This gives you more time to get your point across.
When people read your site you have about 3 seconds to gain their interest with a video you can have as much as 2 to 3 minutes as long as the video has good content in it.
    Hope this helps

Every website needs different SEO tactics to increase
the traffic. Meta tags, submission to directories, blog writing, do follow blog commenting and link
exchange etc are some common practices. The content of the comments also plays
important role in SEO exercise. I focus more upon: Press releases, Reciprocal
Links, Forum Posting, Post newsgroups, Article submission, commenting upon
    do-follow blogs.

    RandBCreations,
Although, your 15 simple rules have a little bit of common sense, Getting high traffic to your web site is not that easy. Although, it sounds easy it's not. One would assume that if you follow your guide lines customers would come in flocks and clean you out. But from my personal experience, It is not so much the keywords or key phrases, that increase your traffic, it's a mixture of both content, and keywords. Having content rich pages, will definitely increase your search engine visibility. From my personal experience as a web developer / SEO Guru. Here's what I've found.
    1. Make sure your web site is coded correctly, having errors in your code can hinder your web site's ability to rank and may not be cross-browser compatible.
    2. When Using Images, make sure you give them titles and name them accordingly. Image002345 will not work. If you're selling a flowers you name your image like this:red-rose-bouquet-1 or something that tells the search engines what that image is and follow up with a brief description.
    3. Use proper HTML mark-up and learn how to use your H1,h2,h3,h4,h5 headers, use your paragraph <p> tags, learn to use them. Avoid using "&nsbp's" for pacing / padding. Learn how to use CSS to control the look of your site.
    4. Avoid using tables if possible when designing your web sites, as browsers continue to get more sophisticated tables can sometimes slowdown your web site and may not display correctly through out the web.
    5. When using Keywords, make sure you use, content rich keywords: What this means is: if you're talking about lemons in your content, make sure you use the keyword "Lemons" in your keywords.
    6. Know what's the difference between a keyword and a key-phrase. For example: red, rose, can also, be keyphrase "red rose". Or lemon, tree can also be "lemon tree" I've learned that by separating the key phrases into keywords, it makes it more random than using a specific term. Also, there is no need to repeat the same word over and over just because you use keyphrases, for example: If you're going to name more than 1 objects such as a rose, there is no need for you to keep repeating the word over and over for example: lets say you are talking about three different color roses, well this is what most people do: Red rose, yellow rose, white rose.... This is a NO-NO... you can re-write the same to "red, yellow, white, rose" There is no need to repeat the words over and over... this is saturation and it's not needed.
    7. Use ROBOTS = INDEX/FOLLOW rule
    8. Avoid using the revisit in XX amount of days tag. Remember, if you tell the search bots to revisit every 5 days per say. The robots will do as instructed. So avoid the revisit meta tag.
    9. Use Google Web Master Tools to Generate a robot.txt file and upload it to your web site. The robot text file tells the search engines which directories you want the search engines to search in. Also, if you do not include a robot text. Avoid, leaving any old-copies of your web site on your server. Since the search engines might crawl to unwanted copies of your site.
    10. Create a SiteMap, everytime you create a new page. There are thousands of sitemap.xml generators out there, use them.

Once you've done the steps above.... Now you're ready to verify and submit your web site to search engines... and keep up the efforts...

Everyone else had great specific, but there are also general guidelines you want to follow in order to make sure you're positioned well to take advantage of these great suggestions.  These general guidelines include--

Make sure your website is fast. Slow websites will destroy your conversion rates, your bounce rates and your pageviews per session.  If you're running wordpress, here's a list of plugins to help make sure your website is fast and secure-- The Best Plugins Every Wordpress Site Needs

Make sure you  have the proper analytics in place. There's no point in getting a great surge in traffic unless you know where it came from and how successful it was to gauge how you can replicate it.  Here's a guide on how to really optimize your Google Analytics to make sure you don't miss out on any opportunities -- How to set up Google Analytics

Try to go viral. Viral traffic is the goal, as it will lead to the lowest cost per visitor and probably the highest converting as well.  There's so many methods on going viral-- encouraging social sharing with ambassador and referral programs, growing an email list, making sure you have social share buttons present, etc etc.  Figure out which works best for you and leverage the heck out of it.

    1. Advertise
This one is so obvious, we’re going to look at it first. Paid search, social media advertising and display advertising are all excellent ways of attracting visitors, building your brand and getting your site in front of people. Adjust your paid strategies to suit your goals – do you just want more traffic, or are you looking to increase conversions, too? Each paid channel has its pros and cons, so think carefully about your objectives before you reach for your credit card.

    2. Get Social
It’s not enough to produce great content and hope that people find it – you have to be proactive. One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels to promote your content. Twitter is ideal for short, snappy (and tempting) links, whereas Google+ promotion can help your site show up in personalized search results and seems especially effective in B2B niches. If you’re a B2C product company, you might find great traction with image-heavy social sites like Pinterest and Instagram. Here's more advice on making the most of social media marketing.

    3. Mix It Up
There is no magic formula for content marketing success, despite what some would have you believe. For this reason, vary the length and format of your content to make it as appealing as possible to different kinds of readers. Intersperse shorter, news-based blog posts with long-form content as well as video, infographics and data-driven pieces for maximum impact.

     4. Write Irresistible Headlines
Headlines are one of the most important parts of your content. Without a compelling headline, even the most comprehensive blog post will go unread. Master the art of headline writing. For example, the writers at BuzzFeed and Upworthy often write upward of twenty different headlines before finally settling on the one that will drive the most traffic, so think carefully about your headline before you hit “publish.”

     5. Pay Attention to On-Page SEO
Think SEO is dead? Think again. Optimizing your content for search engines is still a valuable and worthwhile practice. Are you making the most of image alt text? Are you creating internal links to new content? What about meta descriptions? Optimizing for on-page SEO doesn’t have to take ages, and it could help boost your organic traffic.

    Hi!

If you want serious results, you need to put in serious efforts. Thus there some necessary items for your website:

SEO - Build a Keyword Database. Optimizing for on-page SEO doesn’t have to take ages, and it could help boost your organic traffic.

Design a content strategy. There is no magic formula for content marketing success, despite what some would have you believe. For this reason, vary the length and format of your content to make it as appealing as possible to different kinds of readers and your clients.

Promote your content. It’s not enough to produce great content and hope that people find it – you have to be proactive.

Start guest blogging. Securing a guest post on a reputable site can increase blog traffic to your website and help build your brand into the bargain.

Invite others to guest blog on your site. Guest blogging is a two-way street. In addition to posting content to other blogs, invite people in your niche to blog on your own site. They’re likely to share and link to their guest article, which could bring new readers to your site.

Don’t neglect email marketing. So many businesses are focused on attracting new customers through content marketing that they forget about more traditional methods.

Make sure your site is fast and responsive. If your site takes forever to load, your bounce rate will be sky high.

Submit Your Content to Aggregator Sites. Remember, that members of communities like Reddit are extraordinarily savvy to spam disguised as legitimate links, but every now and again, it doesn’t hurt to submit links that these audiences will find genuinely useful.
