Have you ever tried article marketing as way to promote your business?
I have and it works!
The main idea of your article should NOT be centered around how good your business is. Your article should be sharing valuable knowledge and information with whom ever will be reading your article.
For example if the topic of your article is “SEO - What You Need To
Know” but the article is talking about how good you are at SEO, thats
great!  but its not sharing valuable information with your readers. To
build an audience around your website/business you first need to build
trust and respect amongst your readers/visitors.
I personally cannot stand when I see the topic of an article that
reads - ” The Secrets to Internet Marketing” - but the whole article
is: “On my website I share the secrets….Visit my site today you will
discover the seven steps to…..”  ok so I visit the website - then what?
Then I am told that in oder to find out the seven killing
internet marketing steps I will need to submit my name and email……
forget it - those things don`t work anymore!
Customers want to know that you are knowledgeable about your product
or service and that you are not some random joe shmoe who is trying to
shnor money.
So where and when do you promote your website and business in all this?
I will promote it with my signature at the END of the article, like this:John Doe - "mywebsite.com" Then in a few lines I will describe a little about myself [in case any media reporter or blogger will pick it up]:John Doe is a graduate of ….Below is a list of sites that accept articles: http://www.addme.com/nlsubmit.htmhttp://www.amazines.comhttp://www.articlecentral.comhttp://www.articlecity.comhttp://www.articles911.comhttp://www.articlewarehouse.comhttp://www.authorconnection.comhttp://www.boconline.comhttp://www.businesstoolchest.com/articles/submit.shtmlhttp://www.bytesworth.com/articleshttp://www.cerebuswebmaster.com/onsite/articles.htmlhttp://www.certificate.net/wwio/ideas.shtmlhttp://www.clickforcontent.com/cgi-bin/epro/print.plhttp://www.clickz.comhttp://www.connectionteam.comhttp://www.digital-women.com/submitarticle.htmhttp://www.dime-co.com/articlesub.htmlhttp://www.ezine-writer.com.auhttp://www.ezinearticles.comhttp://www.ezinepublisher.org/members/c ... nt/add.cgihttp://www.family-content.comhttp://www.freesticky.com/stickyweb/submit.asphttp://www.goarticles.comhttp://www.hitsnclicks.com/contributorshttp://www.howtoadvice.com/Submithttp://www.ideamarketers.comhttp://www.jogena.com/articles/articleform.htmhttp://www.mainstreetmom.com/article_su ... n_form.htmhttp://www.makingprofit.comhttp://www.marcommwise.comhttp://www.marketing-of-training.com/motoarticles.htmhttp://www.mastersyndicator.comhttp://www.netterweb.com/articleshttp://www.opportunityupdate.comhttp://www.opportunityupdate.com/articles/submit.shtmlhttp://www.parentclicks.comhttp://www.powerhomebiz.com/termsofuse/ ... submissionhttp://www.profitinfo.com/guide/ezine-pr.htmhttp://www.selfgrowth.comhttp://www.submityourarticle.comhttp://www.top7business.comhttp://www.upromote.com/newsletter/submit.htmlhttp://www.vectorcentral.comhttp://www.web-source.net/articlesub.htmhttp://www.web-source.net/article_submissions.htmhttp://www.webmasterarticles.nethttp://www.womans-net.comhttp://www.zineadz.comhttp://www.zinos.comStart Writing!

I agree, article marketing is a great way to go.  Here are two books that I recommend "Selling Sucks" by Frank Rumbauskas.  His website is also helpful nevercoldcall.com.  Another great book is "Book Yourself Solid" by Michael Port.

    anthony,

what would you think if we brought michael port on the site here to conduct a "book club" of sorts?

    Rich,

I think that would be great.  I would without a doubt get involved.  I listen to his podcast, and am a big fan of "Book Yourself Solid".  I think that you should bring him here to Detroit so I can personally meet him as well (I know, I`m pushing it now).

In itunes search for "The Think Big Revolution with Michael Port" the last podcast was 11/26/2007.  You can also just search "Michael Port" and it will show up with a few other things.  One day in itunes I just started searching my favorite authors and other business people to see if they had a podcast and stumbled upon his.

(don`t want to derail the purpose for this thread any further, but would you folks like a "StartupNation Book Club" that included authors like michael and involved their participation in chats here at the site along with special podcasts from/with them?

Absolutely!  However, I don`t have time to read paper books but I do have the time to listen to audio books.

    You are kidding, right?
Nobody can speak faster that you can read in a comprehensible manner.
What you really mean is that you do not prioritise your time such that reading is higher up the list than other activities.
Which is perfectly fine if you so choose.
But it`s not that you don`t have the time.

    Rich,

I think a book club would be great, along with getting the authors involved in discussions here.

    Essayhelp,
Thanks for the information. I`m constantly amazed at the amount of information I get from StartupNation. Again, thanks!

You have completely missed the point.
The comment was "don`t have time."

Read it more carefully before claiming I make odd statements!
And I was NOT "knocking him."
I wrote that it was perfectly fine to choose to prioritise that way!
