The book E-Myth says you need a system that gives you predictable results each and every time (other wise you are playing the lotto) Word of mouth advertising is not a bonusThe same thing in true in your word of mouth marketing for most businesses referrals are just a bonus. But you can do certain things to stimulate referrals. The secret to generating referrals The famous Jim Rohm said that when you do something often enough an average will appear so if you start asking each customer for referral you will notice average so you might average 1 referral for ever 10 customers you ask.
