Advertising Budget

We moved into our new location at the start of the summer season (June 19, 2006), with our third "Summer School" for PreK-8th grade students. We have been operating from our Campbell location for the last two years inside an office building as an After School program. We are in a great location and building. It is a Public School building that was closed, Randol Elementary... We have everything we need to expand our programs in terms of space and facility services.
We had 137 students for the summer school. It is going to be ending for this year next week and we are now getting ready to fill our Preschool and After School capacity. Total of 84 students for preschool and 86 students for After School is what we are presently licensed for...
AmericaEd is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. We have a very rich program that offers a multi-dimensional education to students. Our programs give what public schools cannot... http://americaed.org/EduPrograms.htm</A>
We were able to raise our "first season expenses" with our own personal contacts. Now we have an URGENT need to raise capital for advertising budget so that we can fill our rooms to the capacity. We are confident about our program and expect to fill it with an effective advertising campaign in a very short time.
What is the fastest, most effective way to find VC for the next 6 months` expenses?

    Leman,
It sounds like you have a great program and are doing something very valuable for the community. Unfortunhately, I have a feeling you`re on the wrong track for raising money. VCs do not invest in non-profits, so there will be no VC money available to you.
However, you should try for a government grant (if what you do supports local or regional objectives). Such grants would be free money you won`t have to pay back. Be careful though: many people promise to be able to "write a grant" (application) for you, but want to be paid for it. Don`t pay anyone, unless at the back end for a successfully received grant. Never upfront, and never "just for the writing".
You may also try to find some philanthropists, who have a reputation of donating money to worthy causes in your area. You might check with your local Chamber of Commerce or perhaps the S.C.O.R.E. group in your area. Perhaps even a local banker can point you in the right direction.
    Good luck & Best wishes,
    Ralf

Thanks for the advice Ralf. Our summer school is ending this week, and I will be able to search for other sources more...
