Whether it`s online based or an actual physical business, the first thing you need is a product or service that is in demand, either as a luxury or as necessity.  Next,  I think it would be safe to say that every business, whether online based or not, must have some sort of actual human networking and marketing involved in order to succeed.  
Find a service or product that is in demand.  Get your website program together. Then get out of the house and start telling people about it!  Best of Luck
