Also lets say you had an LLC, can another person take that name and Incorporate it before you? Is your business name legally protected?

I`m woried that if I file for a DBA, when the time comes that I want to file for LLC or Inc it will be taken.

So if I have a local business that is starting to thrive and is only filed as a DBA I risk someone else Incorporating it before me or have the opportunity to do so?

Basically if you plan on having a successful business and your name plays an important role in the sccess of your business its best you setup a corporation, llc, etc., first I guess...
