Did anyone ever google their name to see what came up?  (I just did and what
I found was a personal email I sent to someone last year).  It was the first
one that came up!  and its on the internet
         &nbs p;         &nbs p;

Then I was googling someone else`s name to test it, and then a personal
word document came up from my hard drive

I have no idea how this happened or how to remove this information.  I did
install Google Desktop.  I am wondering if this has anything at all to do with
why this happened.

I just sent a email to Google I am hoping that I get an answer liie immediately
since I dont like my personal information out there!

I wonder if I encrypted my word docs if this would have have prevented it
from being on the web but what about my email?

I would appreciate comments on this - thank you so much!!

Yeah, to follow on Jeff`s point, check your settings in Google Desktop (go to the Google Desktop page and click the link to "Desktop Preferences").A little ways down the page there`s an option called "Google Integration" - it`s a checkbox that allows you to:"Show Desktop Search results on Google Web Search result pages."If you`ve got that checked, you`ll see external (web) and internal (desktop) results mixed together on a search results page.  Doesn`t mean anyone else is going to see your desktop results.

    Its gone.
I uninstalled the Google Desktop program and then googled the same
things and they didnt show up this time.  Thank goodness..

As far as googling my own computer, I didnt even know that was
possible.  Maybe I did  google my computer, cause the
documents with my friends addresses is on my hard drive.  But the
other email from a year ago wasn`t I checked  that email account.

Chuck, I went to the Google Desktop page and clicked on "preferences".
I scrolled but didnt find "Google Integration".  Maybe I missed
    it, dont know.

Im just glad that the problem is gone, that is one of the dark sides of the
internet and in the future I am going to be more careful about downloading software...

Thank you guys for the help!
