How to Gather Marketing Intelligence?

After you identify your competitors, it is very important that you analyze them and gather as much information as possible from them.  What are the best ways to do it?Keyword:  I can find the meta keywords other sites use on their page by looking at the page source code.  (for Firefox, page info does it all)  But is there a way to find out what keywords are they using for adwords?  Inbound link resource:  I can use link:url to find out who is linking to my competitor.  They are probably good potential linking partners for me too.  So any tricks you know about gathering business intelligence legally?  Maybe I should go see the new James Bond movie with the company credit card.
