DMOZ Delisted?

It`s hardly a secret that I`ve been a harsh critic of DMOZ (The Open Directory Project). Well now it appears thye`re no longer showing up in the search results. You can read about it here:

I agree with nichole, DMOZ has been pretty much worthless for a while now.  They have not been able to keep up with the internet or never really tried too.

It doesn`t matter anyway ... you don`t need them.
That`s funny, Nikole. Last month when I started a thread stating that DMOZ was irrelevant, you had an entirely different opinion.

Like I said in my last post, they never tried to keep up with internet.  They sat in their "Glass" houses and who knows what they really did.Now as a last ditch attempt nearing the end of 2007, they have decided to build a blog.  Do you think that their corrupt editors will finally listen?  Check out their blog: http://blog.dmoz.org/

Roland - I got the same results when I Googled them after seeing this thread.There`s a nasty bug in the Google search engine that will allow anyone to delist a website.  If you run across a site that has this problem make a post here and it will be fixed.DMOZ is a valuable tool and can help you in your search rankings.  Don`t let anyone tell you otherwise.sddreamweavers2007-10-25 18:18:19

That might be true, but the chances to get your site indexed in the directory are as good as winning the jack pot in the lottery. And the more effort you put into it, the greater the chances you trip one of the trip wires and your chances are 0 from then on and they don`t even tell you about it.
You may rightfully conclude the ROI is not to be calculated and therefore money out the window (or waisted time like many say).

Web index Land reports that DMOZ is no longer appearing in list items for catchphrases [dmoz], [open directory] or [open catalog project]. Pages from subdirectories and a few organizers profound (and the "inaccessible" page) still appear in list items.
