Are You Tone Deaf?

Tone deafness is defined as "the lack of relative pitch, the ability to discriminate between musical notes. Having difficulty or being unable to correctly hear relative differences between notes."
When it comes to their customers, many businesses are tone deaf. They don`t have the ability to run a profitable enterprise, or discriminate the needs of their customers. As a result, they sputter along barely making ends meet, or end up going out of business altogether.
The airline industry is a perfect example of an industry that is almost completely tone deaf. With the exception of Southwest Airlines, the airline industry simply doesn`t have a clue about how to run a profitable enterprise.
The ironic part is for years Southwest has had this big neon flashing sign that says, "THIS IS HOW TO RUN A PROFITABLE AIRLINE." Apparently, no one was paying attention.
What about you? Are you tone deaf? Are you hearing your customers?
