To .com or not

I am building a local review website and am struggling a little bit with the branding and logo concepts.  I have secured the .com name, but am going back and forth on whether to promote the name with .com at the end or not.  I know that sites like yelp, mint, angieslist, and yodle don`t promte .com at the end.  Is it intuitive now if you have .com to leave it off, like you now leave off www or do you need it at first so people know you are a web business?

I am planning on registering the company name without the .com.  I agree with Art, and I think with a good logo and slogan the name is catchy enough for people to get it. (hopefully)

I agree with ideas4 in that it really all depends on what seems more catchy to you (and your market). Nothing prevents you from doing both, and maybe it would be a good idea to test out to see which gets more views, clicks, general reactions, etc... But I wouldn`t say that there is one necessarily preferable to the other.
