Starting an aspiring entrepreneur incubator initiative
As an NGO that believes in
self sustainability as a means of raising funds for our objectives, our
research revealed most of our aspiring entrepreneurs here in Ghana do not have
the core funding to operate an office, pay for rent, office supplies, computers
and other day to day activities, this prompted us to come up with a solution of
providing these services for them for a minimal fee. We have placed an advert
in a paper that has very minimal circulation but responses were very
encouraging.
Can any body guide or advise
us on how best to run such services all questions will be most welcome and we
are open to criticisms.

Dear Craig,
Now I get to see the negative effect
of the media coverage of only suffering Africans and portrayal of Africa as one
big jungle LOL, however I hope you get to visit Africa one of these days as a
tourist maybe and see first hand that we are a developed nation where taxis,
buses, and trucks and freight liners are a very prominent source of
transportation here, the foot & animal transportation system are rare
rather and are seen mostly in the rural areas, even in those rural areas taxis
are abound.

Thanks for your reply here are
the answers and if not satisfactory I will be willing to answer any more for
clarification.
The cars in question will be bought
at a low cost from used car dealers, and auctioneers in the USA or Europe,
we protect the investment of the cars by
·
Installing tracking
devises.
·
Comprehensive insurance
coverage, tailored to suit our needs in case of theft, loss, accidents etc.
·
All selected
drivers will provide a police report from the police head quarters.
·
References from a
well know personality.
·
All drivers will
have limits within the city and in the case they need to drive out of the city
permission will be requested.
·
The Ghanaian
police will be aware of the project and will be aware of the conditions of the
contract.
·
All drivers will
be requested to provide an “out side city permit” at point of police barriers.
Assuming the company now owns
a car:
·
Controllers of the
cars will be selected thus: Persons recommended
by the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU), and persons that
produce trustworthy solid referrals, most preferable those that have children
and families to cater for, and that have track record of being a past or
present professional taxi, bus or lorry driver by profession and should have
been driving with at least 5 years experience.
·
The company makes
money from the taxi drivers whom will donate 5% value of their daily sales of
GHc 1.50 pesewa, and from the individual entrepreneur whom will pay 10% from
the overall profit after tax for the vehicle after complete payments have been
made, Like paying a hedge fund manager an interest for over looking and growing
your investment after the investment period.
·
We are a not for
profit that intends to apply the new “hybrid” NGO Entrepreneur strategy, to ensure
our financial sustainability since donor funds are declining and much
restrictions are placed on the funds that are even donated, thus limiting our
capabilities of helping.
·
General operating
costs will be the field agent whom is to confirm that payments are made promptly
on a daily bases by the drivers into the bank account designated for each
vehicle and driver.
·
The car owner
would get a return on investment as he/she depending on their requests can be: Monthly,
quarterly or annually and all funds will be remitted directly to the investor
by means of that account that was created for the vehicle, and will have the
opportunity to see real life transactions and payments as we intend to enter
the contract with a bank that has online capacities and will also have direct
links with the Account managers of that account.
·
We placed a
maximum amount and type of vehicles required this is to enable us meet up to
our promises.
·
For example: if it
costs $4000,00 for the buying, shipping, and clearing of a vehicle we give it
out at $8000,00 driver is responsible for servicing. Maintenance of the vehicle
and is expected to make a return of GHc 1.5 daily spread over a period of 20
months.
In regards of suggestions I can
just hope to point you to existing deals such as these but the conditions are
too brutal for the drivers to meet up with, it takes them 4 years of stretching
to meet up daily sales of astronomical value placed on them to complete payment
for those other vehicles whilst it takes 20 months to complete payment for ours.
