Has anyone done a dvd tutorial?

I've done about 4 1/2 hours of video tutorials on a music software program. Currently I am selling burned DVDs on the internet and work stably with it. In an effort to increase my sales and get it to Amazon etc ... I am looking to get it all professional for a proper release. This is my problem .... My video quality is really good but when I convert AVI to DVD video, the quality drops dramatically (even if I only burn a short video to dvd). Has anyone used Camtasia to create videos? Any advice on the best way to compress the best quality files? I'm thinking of going with 2 DVDs with a bit more than 2 hours each so I'm trying to reach a balance between quality and quantity. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
