Need feedback: Web Application that verifies any drug

I'm thinking about an idea for a web application & I wanted your advice. Here's what it does: Users can search, find & verify details of any genuine drug by scanning the barcode, qrcode or verification number through the app. It then gives you instant feedback. What do you think ? Is it feasible ? Would you buy a product like this ? |

Hello, @jemoh.
Good idea! Would there be any additional legal hoops or FDA regulations to abide by with a product like this?
I think it would definitely be useful. But when you say "instant feedback," what kind of information is displayed? Product reviews would be helpful for sure. Drug facts such as active indigents, uses and directions are already supplied on the box, so what other information would your app offer?Ryan O'Bleness

Very interesting.
Now, let me ask you, how would you monetize this? Would this be a mobile app that costs money, or a free app with in-app purchases and/or advertising opportunities? Or would this be a whole software program that costs money to purchase?Ryan O'Bleness

It's definitely feasible - there are open APIs that let you pull drug information based on their codes and turning your phone camera into a barcode scanner is fairly easy. Personally, I don't think I'd pay for a service like that but I'd probably pay to advertise on it. We've worked on a similar project in the past.
