Greetings everyone! I'm glad to have found a place such as this. With all the social media based sites, it's nice to have a basic forum that we can utilize to share useful business information and forge meaningful connections. My hopes is that I can bring as much value as I receive, but that is looking like it will be a hard endeavour as there are some very good threads/ideas already out there.

    Hello, CharlieP:

My name is Ryan O'Bleness, and I am the new community manager/moderator here at StartupNation. I have already seen some of your posts, and could already tell you are adding great value with your insights. It's a nice change of pace from those users who are just pushing products or posting spam -- those users will often find themselves band from the forum. I truly appreciate that, and I look forward to engaging with you in this forum.

Please, feel free tell me more about your background.

    Hello, Arnaldo:

Welcome to the community! I look forward to hearing your insights regarding sales and photography.

Just remember not to be overly-self promotional or push too many products. If you have a link relevant to a conversation, please feel free to share, other than that please be careful about posting links! Not that this has been an issue with you; I just like to let new members know.

Feel free to discuss topics with me whenever you would like!

    Hey Orlando,

Good to meet you and look forward to your perspective as a retailer on various topics! Your insight will be helpful to others I'm sure and I'm sure you will find things that will help push your business to new levels.

Good to hear from you Ryan! I to have had the fun job in the past of fighting off the hordes of spammers trying to post random nonsense on a forum and thank you greatly for keeping this one so clean. As to my background, currently I have spent the last 8 years of my life working in the call center environment (most of that time as a supervisor over various specialty teams). We do inbound calls, so no, I'm not to ones most of you hate getting a call from while you are trying to eat dinner. Before that I've worked in a few different industries such as onsite computer tech, website designer, restaurant manager, warehouse inventory specialist (yes, I actually kept the books and it wasn't just a nice name for forklift driver  ) and a floor manager at a material processing facility. So, my background is pretty varied and helps with seeing things from many differing directions.

@CharlieP, Yeah, it is a lot of work with a datebase of this size, but I enjoy doing it and I love helping like-minded individuals connect and gain knowledge and techniques to help start, grow or manage their business.

It sounds like you have a lot of varied experience. I do as well. Before taking over as a community manager, I've worked in an agency setting, as a freelancer, as a writer/journalist, as a public relations specialist, as an editorial assistant, as a sports information intern and more.

I would encourage you to check out the various articles on http://www.startupnation.com as well. A lot of valuable information, from several accomplished authors, in various forms of business content: startup funding, sales, marketing, monetizing your business, branding, entrepreneurship and much, much more.

That definitely explains why you write so well. Having so much experience in process improvement and efficiency is good and allows me to see sometimes very simple ways to make meaningful improvement, but getting it out on paper is usually the hardest part.

I'll for sure try to read more of the articles on the front page.

    Thanks!
