Risk of having shares in a private incorporated compagny

Hi there,

I was wondering what were the risks of taking up shares in a private incorporated company ? Like if the company fails and goes bankrupt, of course, I loose my shares, but should I have to pay something else ? For example, am I liable to pay the company's debt ?
Or is it loosing my shares the biggest risk ?

Thank you,

Ben
